Web Wander is a free browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that helps people rediscover the open web one unexpected destination at a time. Instead of presenting another algorithmic feed, it opens a destination on its original website and gives the user several ways to steer the experience.

The simplest mode is one-click wandering. Web Wander rotates across 24 discovery providers and varies recent providers and destination domains to reduce repetition. People can also choose from 56 focused categories, enter a custom keyword or phrase, browse web eras including the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and tomorrow, or switch to dedicated video and music modes.

The extension is designed for curious people who miss the serendipity of services such as StumbleUpon but want more control over where the next click goes. Provider controls let users decide which discovery services participate in the rotation. Web Wander also filters many obvious hubs, login routes, unsafe downloads, spam patterns, and recent repeats so the experience stays useful without pretending that the wider web is perfectly predictable.

Web Wander requires no Web Wander account. Preferences, provider queues, wander count, and recent-destination history remain local in the browser. Ordinary broad and fixed-category wandering does not build a behavioral recommendation profile. When a user deliberately submits a custom keyword, that keyword may be sent to compatible discovery sources so relevant destinations can be assembled.

Typical use cases include escaping repetitive social feeds, finding inspiration between work sessions, exploring unfamiliar subjects, discovering independent websites, revisiting older web aesthetics, and turning a vague curiosity into a surprising next stop. A user might browse astronomy, personal websites, tiny games, architecture, music, film, artificial intelligence, or dozens of other interests without signing up for another platform.
